Though I don’t read many of them, sometimes it’s great to unwind with a lighthearted, humorous read and when I picked up The Duet it hit the nail on the head with light and funny. Though the premise isn’t anything I haven’t read before, the witty banter, nearly drama-free plot, the close camaraderie between the two Heart sisters and the two very charming main characters totally won me over and I had a blast reading this book.
Pop singer Brooklyn Heart is a hoot. She’s the quintessential popular girl with an occasional wild side, and is fiercely loyal to those she loves. In order to rack up an audience and even wider recognition, Brook’s label has her paired up with the hero Jason Monroe to perform a smashing duet on Grammy night. Problem is, she and Jason couldn’t be more different from each other and though she’s got the hots for him, her bubbly attitude and his ice-cold indifference clash again and again. Both resign to the idea they have to work with each other for one month to collaborate on their duet and for inspiration, they head out to Jason’s ranch out in Montana. It isn’t too long before their inspiration ideas come from sex and they agree to the rules: no relationships, no complications, just sex.
As to be predicted, feelings get in the way. He gets jealous. She feels jilted. A little drama scene in between. Usually I’ll start rolling my eyes but instead in here I just couldn’t stop laughing. The story is just simply too funny, and even when things got overly dramatic because of Brook’s exaggerated antics, the book remains lighthearted so it’s hard to take some things seriously and it all felt comical.
I think I enjoyed this one a lot more than I normally would because I was in the mood for this kind of read. Having read another book from this author I feel like her writing forte is to channel the wild, spontaneous side of love in the characters’ relationships, and it worked really well here. Mind you, I didn’t exactly go gaga over these characters but they’re extremely likable and despite their fame and popularity, the author portrayed them both as characters everyone can relate to in some way. I did feel like the love on Brook’s side leaned more towards obsession (because seriously, this girl was daydreaming about Jason way before she even met him and then after she did, it was bananas) and so in terms of their romantic connection, I thought it was weak, hence the 4 star rating. But everything else, from the laugh-out-loud hilarious writing to the awesome character dynamic to the killer ending is a thumbs up from me.
The Duet is a fun romantic comedy standalone and sets up the stage for another standalone companion that stars Brook’s younger sister Cammie.

RS Grey and I...we just get along! I've read and enjoyed all of her books and The Duet was no exception.
I love that all of her books are completely different from each other. I love that not every book turns in to a multi book series. They don't have cliffhanger endings. They aren't filled with juvenile drama and annoying MCs. And best of all, they make me laugh.
Brooklyn was a great heroine....maybe a little in her head too much. Despite being a pop star she was down to earth and fun!
Jason is her fellow label-mate but they couldn't be more different. Jason thinks Brooklyn is an entitled princess and Brooklyn thinks Jason fits the brooding musician role perfectly.
Jason and Brooklyn are forced to write and perform a duet together at the upcoming music awards. While Brooklyn is all for it...I mean why not? Afterall, Jason is definitely easy on the eyes.
Jason on the other hand wants nothing to do with Brook. However, they end up on Jason's ranch in the middle of nowhere trying to write this duet.
Over time, both Jason and Brooklyn learn there's a lot more to each other then they ever thought.
My favorite thing about RS Grey's books is the banter. This one had me LOL throughout the whole book. While the steam was low, it was there.
And the ending....
I was doing some major swooning!
And to top it all off...Cammie and Grayson get a book!

4.5 "Sing to me" stars
After reading The Duet,I was led to a huge,life-changing revelation.One that was formed in the back of my mind since V is for Virgin,one that started putting down roots after Like Gravity,and now will be my downfall:I want to marry a singer.A cocky,sexy as hell singer who writes songs about me because is there anything hotter than this?Thank you R.S. Grey for narrowing down my chances of finding a real lifebook boyfriend from zero to Alaska temperatures.
No insta-love.On the contrary,when their record company assigned them to write and perform a song together,their hatred was a being of its own.Jason Monroe was the assholiest person Brooklyn had ever encountered,his ego was so big it couldn't fit in a room.His only redeeming quality was that he was so hot that made hell look like a common sauna.While Brooklyn was a funny woman who spoke her mind without thinking,Jason was always serious and annoyed.They could not compose a decent song together even if their lives depended on it (and their careers actually did),they kept insulting each other and pushing their buttons until one crossed the limits and they would stop talking.But it's out of hatred that the greatest romances blossom.
If the premise or the song lyrics haven't convinced you yet to read The Duet,I'm going to try a little harder.
Argument No 1
Jason Monroe is hot .
He is a fine specimen of men.In the first chapters I wanted to strangle him for being so pompous and obnoxious,but then he won me over.Besises the quiet,brooding artist,he proved that he was a good man and a good friend,even though he tried to push Brooklyn away,at least for a while.
Argument No 2
The female characters.That's right,characters.One of R.S. Grey's best assets is that the women in her novels aren't the type that make you want to drop them to the ocean and feed them to sharks.You can relate to them,you can understand even their stupidest decisions,you sympathize and admire them.I loved the sisterly bond between Brooklyn and Cammie,they made me feel fuzzy and warm inside.They lost their parents but having each other was enough.
Argument No 3
The Duet is a humorous read,there is no doubt about it!Brooklyn's POV makes you laugh until you hiccup and everyone glances at you curiously (not that it happened to me).Sassy remarks,pop culture references,poisoned fruit baskets and certain bathroom incidents make sure of that.R.S. Grey's writing is witty,she combines said humor with surprisingly strong heartbreak and broken trust,in a way that prevents you from sleeping until you finish the book and happy dance in the middle of the night (it didn't happen to me either).And the chemistry between Jason and Brooklyn is off.the.charts.Serious steam overdose.
Not convinced yet?Then there is nothing I can do except use my recently acquired powers of compulsion!And I warn you,I can be very persuasive.

5 AMAZING STARS <3 <3
OMG I can't even express how much I love Rachel's writing!!! She knows how to write funny,sweet,romantic and sexy stories!!! So far I thought "With This Heart" was my favorite book but this book has something that stole my heart!! *sigh* Everytime I read a new story from Rachel I'm excited because each book has something to give me! I'm a huge fan of her and I’m always so excited when I read a book of hers! I really loved this book from the first page!! It captivated me and kept my interest till the end!! I loved how the romance was building and the characters are so likeable even the secondary ones!!!
How difficult can it be for a pop singer Brooklyn Heart to do a duet with the hot singer Jason Monroe??? It seems very difficult...Their record label forced them to do a duet, they have a few weeks to write a song together and be ready to perform it at the Grammy's. But Jason isn't too happy about that....They will have a month to prepare full of tension and funny moments.Will they be ready to sing their Duet???
I loved so much Brooklyn and her sister!!! :)) they are hillarious!!!!Brooklyn is sweet,funny and beautiful. Jason!!!OMG I loved him!!!He is so intense and hot!! While we can see that they are opposite as it comes in music and their personal lives too, but when they come together it's impossible to not see how similar they are!!!!I loved their chemistry!!!They have so many funny moments!And there is so much tension but they are attracted to each other!!
"I hope you got a good look because you're never going to see this ass ever again," "No worries, Sweet Cheeks. I've been told I have quite the memory"
If you need a brake from all of the drama, then this funny and sweet book is exactly what you need!!Thanks again so much Rachel for the arc <3 you know how much I love you!!! :))) Can't wait for Cammie's book!!!

Brooklyn and Jason are both very famous a successful country singers, both nominated to the Emmy’s. But as they attracted different groups of fans, their agents have a brilliant idea: bring them together to perform a duet during the Emmy’s that join their public.
Jason immediately rejects that idea and is pretty vocal about it and Brooklyn doesn’t understand why she attracts such a cold front from him.
Since they have no other choice, are stuck together in a Montana ranch and that’s when things start to change. They begin to get close and Brooklyn starts to understand why Jason acts that way and what make him have such a cold front.
When those feelings starts to grow from hate to love, that’s when reality strikes again. When you are in a seclude ranch things are easy, but when you have ghosts and the world watching you… how much are you willing to take?
This was a very fun and heartwarming book with pretty steamy moments. I like how Grey writes these very good books who are completely different from each other and all of them are pretty awesome. I didn’t like this one not even close to “Scoring Wilder” (my ultimate favorite from hers) but he was a nice reading and if you’re in need of something light and funny with not much drama, you probably should read this one.
Rating: 4 Stars.
Characters Development: Brooklyn was hilarious and I liked how she wasn’t a “two-goodie-shoes” heroine and was true to herself. My only complaint is that she spent too much time having monologues in her head. Jason was an enormous asshole in the beginning, and for that reason was hard for me to completely like him. Yes, I know he kind of redeemed himself, but still, in the end I still couldn’t fully connect with him.
However, that is a story that I’m VERY curious to read, and is Cammie and Grayson’s. I can’t wait for their book!!

Brooklyn Heart and Jason Monroe are the two biggest talents in their music label; while Brooklyn conquered the pop charts with her love songs, Jason won his legions of fans with his soulful music and sexy-mysterious aura. They’ve never worked together and never really thought it would ever happen until the higher ups thought it was a perfect idea. Now they’ll have to write a song together and perform it at the Grammy’s. No big deal.
Except it is. How can they write a hit song if they can’t get along? Jason wants nothing to do with Brooklyn and prefers to write alone in his ranch in Montana. Brooklyn thinks he’s an arrogant a*hole who looks hot as sin. As much as they wish to do anything other than write and perform a duet together, they can’t really go against the big bosses. So, off to Montana they go.
They write songs differently, and they didn’t know how to start. It didn’t help that they didn’t get along and barely knew anything about each other. They try to bond over horseback-riding and a coffee non-date at the cafe in Montana. Still, it didn’t work. And when they try to get over the awkwardness and feelings of restraint with sex? Worked like a charm.
The sex was just a way to soften them up; let go of what’s holding them back. Jason made it clear from the start that he’s not interested in starting a relationship with her, and Brooklyn is okay with it...Until Jason isn’t not interested in starting a relationship with her, and Brooklyn is feeling more. With secrets hanging above them, you know a crash is bound to happen.
I just realized I’m trash for musicians. I thought it was just the brooding type that instantly melts my heart and ovaries. Granted, Jason is a bit of a brooder himself, but damn. There’s just something about a man who can play an instrument and sing a tune. And this one writes!
If you’re looking for a book to make you laugh, I suggest picking up an R.S. Grey book because it always does the trick for me. Some of the narrative and dialogue in The Duet made me laugh out loud! Since it was told in Brooklyn’s POV, you can easily see her personality and sense of humor. I loved her interactions with her sister and best friend, Cammie, who’s just as funny. Obviously, a good sense of humor runs in the family.
However, it could have done without the comedic relief in the steamy scenes. It wasn’t the relief I wanted if you get my drift. hehe. Brooklyn’s jokes in her head derailed me from fully getting into the scene.
I liked Brooklyn and Jason, but I couldn’t really relate or connect to them that much. It felt like they didn’t have enough interaction to ignite the spark. For me, their series of one-night stands didn’t have the emotional ground to make me fall in love with their love story. I didn’t know when or how their relationship transitioned from barely tolerating each other to falling madly in love.
Despite my reservations with this couple, the ending made me swoon! Holy sh*t! I was aww-ing and was a mess when they finally performed! I wanted to quote a verse in the song, but I want you to experience it for yourself. Because swoon!
Another couple got my attention–Cammie and Brooklyn’s friend, architect Grayson Cole. From what’s in The Duet, there’s some tension there, and it was obvious something’s going on. I’m jumping over to The Design to find out.
Overall, I still enjoyed the story. The Duet is a standalone romantic comedy told in Brooklyn’s POV. If you’re looking for a fun, light read with singer MCs and a swoon-worthy happily ever after, you might enjoy this book. Recommended to readers age 18 and above due to strong language and explicit sexual content.

I just realized I’m trash for musicians. I thought it was just the brooding type that instantly melts my heart and ovaries. Granted, Jason is a bit of a brooder himself, but damn. There’s just something about a man who can play an instrument and sing a tune. And this one writes!
If you’re looking for a book to make you laugh, I suggest picking up an R.S. Grey book because it always does the trick for me. Some of the narrative and dialogue in The Duet made me laugh out loud! Since it was told in Brooklyn’s POV, you can easily see her personality and sense of humor. I loved her interactions with her sister and best friend, Cammie, who’s just as funny. Obviously, a good sense of humor runs in the family.
However, it could have done without the comedic relief in the steamy scenes. It wasn’t the relief I wanted if you get my drift. hehe. Brooklyn’s jokes in her head derailed me from fully getting into the scene.
I liked Brooklyn and Jason, but I couldn’t really relate or connect to them that much. It felt like they didn’t have enough interaction to ignite the spark. For me, their series of one-night stands didn’t have the emotional ground to make me fall in love with their love story. I didn’t know when or how their relationship transitioned from barely tolerating each other to falling madly in love.
Despite my reservations with this couple, the ending made me swoon! Holy sh*t! I was aww-ing and was a mess when they finally performed! I wanted to quote a verse in the song, but I want you to experience it for yourself. Because swoon!
Another couple got my attention–Cammie and Brooklyn’s friend, architect Grayson Cole. From what’s in The Duet, there’s some tension there, and it was obvious something’s going on. I’m jumping over to The Design to find out.
Overall, I still enjoyed the story. The Duet is a standalone romantic comedy told in Brooklyn’s POV. If you’re looking for a fun, light read with singer MCs and a swoon-worthy happily ever after, you might enjoy this book. Recommended to readers age 18 and above due to strong language and explicit sexual content.

4 duet stars!
I was a little hesitant to read this book since I wasn't that impressed with my first RS Grey book. But after seeing some of my trusted friends' positive reviews -- friends that don't usually care for this type of stories -- I knew I just have to read this.
And I loved it!
Sure it wasn't super deep or super emotional but it was super fun and the characters were endearing and relatable despite the fact the MCs are both celebrities. They are my least favorite MCs to read about but Brook and Jason were great together. And Brook is hilarious! She's the popular girl you'd love to hate but can't because she was real and funny. And I love her relationship with her sister Cammie. They're sisters who happens to be the best of friends, and they are hilarious together.
Jason is the perfect foil for Brook. He's quiet and broody. Too bad we didn't have his POV. But it wasn't too bad since Brook carried the book well.
Overall, this was a fun, light-hearted read. A definite must-read if you're hankering for some fun in between those dark, intense reads.

I was so excited to check out this latest from R.S. Grey. Everything I've read from her has been 4-5 stars in the past. Going in, I think I had anticipated a more serious tone based on my past reads. However, Scoring Wilder did have more humor than the previous books. This one right here I would definitely classify as romantic comedy-minus the romance for me. Unfortunately, this couple didn't do it for me on a personal level. They hit a lot of buttons that turned me off and frankly, I was not feeling emotionally invested in the outcome of their HEA. There was a disconnect there and when I think about it, it was due to several factors.
First of all, the humor was funny. Laugh out loud funny at times even. I'm giving the author full credit for injecting so much witty banter and chuckle worthy material. It was the one thing that I enjoyed between the hero and heroine that I really wish I could have seen more of.
"Does your cockiness have a dimmer switch or is it always set to 'high'?"
"Guess you've figured me out, huh?"
Mostly, the humor was all the heroine's inner dialogue and while it was funny, I think I could have used less of that and more work spent on fleshing out these two characters more and actual time they could have spent getting to know each other past their feelings of lust. I didn't see any genuine foundation for their feelings for each other. I needed more. The sum total of their getting to know each other was one horseback ride where they asked each other 5 questions. And let's just say he withheld one huge piece of information about himself from her.
We'd only known each other for three weeks; he wasn't ready for a relationship;there were more things we didn't know about each other than we did know.
She was even mentally cracking jokes while they were having sexy time, and I didn't want that, I wanted intensity and passion. The whole dynamic they had going with going at it like bunnies at night, and him just acting civil with her during the day wasn't doing it for me. It cheapened things, left it feeling disrespectful and eventually it started to break down the heroine's feeling of self worth.
Basically, you get the general idea of the plot from the synopsis: two completely different types of singers are forced together to collaborate on a song and perform it at the Grammy's. They make a bad first impression on each other and when they head to his ranch in Montana to write their song together, sparks fly in more than one way.
This had one of the classic elements of romantic comedy: secrets and lies. Jason tells her from the start that he can't do serious with her, that things are complicated. They are, and when that "complication" is revealed, it leaves Brooklyn running to lick her wounds.
I think by far, the best part of the book for me was the ending. It was a sweet and swoon worthy moment from Jason and it brought my rating up some based on me finally seeing some emotion pass between the hero and heroine in a genuine feeling way. I loved the song that came from their collaboration and how it gradually grew throughout the story based on their inner turmoil that they couldn't express in other ways.
I have to say, I am actually dying to get my hands on the next book in the series. It's Brooklyn's best friend Cammie and their friend, a successful architect who has this broody, dominating persona. I was sufficiently teased with their story and I am putting that one on auto-buy. Spring 2015?! I'm not a fan of waiting.

I want to like The Duet more than 3 stars. I really do. Again, like the other books Ibread from Miss Grey what is lacking here is the chemistry.
I do not feel the connection between the characters. Not even during hate relationship. The banter is dry and cold. I was expecting so much more.
When the relationship turned into love, it happened to sudden. And still I can not feel the chemistry.

I'm reading the books in this series backwards. I read The Design last month and loved it. After seeing Brooklyn Heart in Cammie's book, I knew I wanted to read her story too.
Brooklyn Hart and Jason Monroe are both successful and popular singers. They are both beautiful professionals, but they sing different genres. To bridge the gap, their record company came up with the idea that instead of performing two independent songs at the music awards they should write and sing a duet together.
Jason immediately turns this idea down. Taking back by his demeanor and his attitude Brooklyn agrees to do it out of spite.
After agreeing to writing a song with Jason, Brooklyn finds herself traveling to Montana to collaborate. Jason always travels home to his ranch whenever he writes new stuff. Why would this time be any different? Jason has an aversion to working with Brooklyn and he's not shy about letting her know. Brooklyn on the other hand knew that their first few meetings weren't the best, but no matter how hard she tried to get on civil terms with him nothing worked.
"I needed to win over Jason Monroe, but I had no clue where to start."
When Brooklyn first arrived at Jason's house in Montana, she found it difficult to read him. She tried to get him to talk to her, but had no luck. That is until a spider decided to hang over her head while she was in the bath. Yep, you guessed it. She screams, he comes running and gets an eyeful, but I think she handled herself well.
Of course, after that, Jason seems to warm up to Brooklyn a little. They were supposed to be writing a song together. They were successful in getting some chords together that they liked, but they still had no words yet. It's kinda hard to sing a song without words, but they were so used to working alone. So, how do they overcome this? They decide to have sex.
"A little sex never hurt anyone, especially when it got the creative juices flowing."
And boy does it! They go from having a one night stand to having sex almost every night and the lyrics start flowing. They both agree that it's just sex. No relationship, no complications. But soon feelings start developing for both of them, but they don't know how to respond to them. Then when Jason's past resurfaces, some drama ensues threatening to stop any chance of love between these two. Luckily, Jason is a singer/songwriter and knows how to use his talent.
I'm in love with R.S. Grey. She writes funny, sexy and lighthearted romances that make me happy. I loved both characters in this story. Brooklyn is feisty and has a great sense of humor. I loved her relationship with her sister too. Jason was a bit of a mystery for most of the book, but I couldn't help but want to know more about him. And then there's his crew who run his home in Montana. LuAnne and Derek were great additions. Overall, this was a great read. I can't wait to read more by this author.

I laughed at her dry retort. “Okay, well, it was terrible. No tingles, no fireworks, and definitely no happy ending.”
“Are you serious?”
“Dead serious.” I shrugged. “I’m over it. From now on, I’m just going to think of other things to do with my vagina.”
“Yeah, you could probably store receipts in there,”
Let me lay it out for you all honest like from the get go. My rating of this one is probably going to change over time and dammit, I’m okay with it! On the one hand, I loved the snark and banter between every single character enough to give it a big fat 5 stars. On the other hand I found the lack of any true inter personal relationship between the two main characters to be an issue. Yes, I’m assuming they bonded on a deeper, less bullshit type level during the fade to black moments but not being privy to most of those moments wasn’t so hot for me. I need the emotional connection. The sexy times weren’t incredibly detailed but that was never my issue. I just needed a little more “oomph” between these two characters to elevate this to a 5 star read for me. Based on my enjoyment and love of snark alone, this one came mighty close to exceeding the 4 stars I’m settling for right now.

Loving you would be easy as taking a breath.
A pretty enemies to friends with benefits to lovers romance. I enjoyed the whole musicians having to work together plot. It was interesting, and it’s always fun to see emotions coming out through music.
Brooklyn was a fun character. I liked that she wasn’t over the top with her personality, she just was her fun, confident yet unsure self. I liked her relationship with her sister Cammie as well. Jason was broody and a bit of a jerk at first, but of course we figure out that he’s just misunderstood. I really enjoyed their transition from enemies to lovers, but I did feel like a few steps were missed even though the ones given were enjoyable.
All in all a good read. If you like the whole friends with benefits trope, then this is a fun read for that.

There is nothing quite like a book that makes you smile so many times your jaw literally starts hurting! I went into this story somewhat blindly, drawn to the ‘opposites attracting’ type of scenario, but I never expected to become so easily captivated by the characters, or that the mere thought of them even a week after finishing this book would still be putting a smile on my face. An upbeat, utterly delightful read, the perfect balance of light-hearted comedy and sizzling romance, I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious escape from the mundanity of everyday life.

A truly heart-warming and satisfying read, even though I did not connect with some of the comedy at times and would have loved an even deeper insight into the characters themselves, this is a book that I loved reading and this author’s engaging prose will definitely make me come back for more.

Out of the few R.S. Grey books I’ve read so far, this one has definitely been my favorite. It was a quick and fun read and I also think her writing was already a lot better than in her previous books. The only thing that bothered me about The Duet was the female main character. I didn’t hate her but sometimes she was just pretty annoying and didn’t really act her age.

Two genres of music. Two completely different lifestyles. Two talented musicians. One of the most unlikely pairings! When the record label puts them together in hopes for Grammy magic, it is gonna be along haul to make the perfect duet! well...NOT SO FAST!
Jason is one stone cold dude. He is sex on a stick but he is also " probably the assholiest person I’ve ever met.” Yep. So why do we, I mean, Brooklyn want him? Lets keep it professional. Let's get the job done. Lets keep it on paper. No, WAIT...Lets be "FRIENDS"!
I admit this read is LOL fun! It is told through the inner ramblings and actions of Brooklyn and she is a complete hoot! Yes, I would have liked a bit more depth, but this worked for me! The quirky awkwardness, the horny hysterics, and the overall bright light that was Brooklyn makes it impossible to not fall for this story!
I really enjoyed this author's style. She gave a light, entertaining read with fast pace yet well connected relationship. While I disliked the "wham-bam" action that Jason often came at Brooklyn with, I did like when he went soft it was swoon worthy! Note that this is a full story, no cliffhanger...but I cannot wait to see if lil' sis Cammie gets a tale...something is definitely brewing with Greyson!

3.5 Funny Stars!
I had totally forgotten that I had to review this for the release blitz so when reminded I quickly jumped in and hoped this would be good and not a slow read because that would have killed me at this point.I started this and could not stop after reading about Brooklyn Heart and Jason Monroe's awkward first encounter.Simply put its about two different singers who have but put together by their label to write a song for their duet.
This is one of those books that caused me to have a have a smile on my face through out the book, giggle and want to smack the characters and tell them to sort their crap out.I enjoyed Brooklyn's inner monologue but at times I wanted her to stop thinking and get on with things.She was sassy and I loved her sarcasm and attitude. Jason was an arsehole at the start I just didn't get why he felt like that still don't really it was never really discussed.Like I would have asked..hellloooo what was that crap when we first met eh?

A hilariously clever heroine with a good dose of brooding male sexiness made this book a wonderful delight. It’s funny, witty, hot and endearing.
When pop phenom Brooklyn Heart is programmed to write and perform a duet with soulful singer Jason Monroe, it’s more probable that they’ll end up writing an “I hate your attitude, let’s never see each other again” song, than the collaboration ballad their label is hoping to get. But between her lively personality, his dark one and their mutual attraction the possibilities are endless.
I was so happy to get this book. From the moment I saw the beautiful cover paired with R.S. Grey I knew the story behind it would be fantastic.
I was hooked from the start with the loveable Brook. I haven’t enjoyed a heroine so much in forever. With her chatty inner voice and amusing shenanigans, she had me laughing myself silly.
Jason though was a provocative enigma who I didn’t get enough of.
I loved their back and forth, how they teased and ribbed and flirted endlessly.
But mostly I swooned at how their relationship progressed to a beautiful duet.
I think it’s brilliant that in a niche where most music stories are about a bad boy rocker romancing an unsuspecting naive girl, R.S. made her mark writing about both hero and heroine being in the same playing field.
I also enjoyed the supporting characters who made the story so much richer. Especially Cammie, Brooklyn’s younger sister whose book I can’t wait to read.
If you’re looking for a wonderful escape, a romantic comedy told through the eyes of a charming female pop star falling for a “rough-around-the-edges musician with a killer smile and forgotten facial hair”, R.S. does not disappoint. Her characters are so appealing, I hardly noticed the pages fly by.
Can be read as standalone romantic comedy. No cheating, no triangle, a lot of hilarity, beautiful lyrics and a HEA.

Let me say I felt so excited when I received an ARC of The Duet because I loved With This Heart and Scoring Wilder is in my top ten favorite books of this year. But about half way through reading I felt highly disappointed because I couldn't connect to any one of the characters and connecting with characters is what makes a book for me.
And I didn't even feel that the characters even had a connection to each other. The sex scenes were boring, which made me yawn in a couple parts. But I love the comedy in this book which drove me to finish it. But it did feel like it came off a little slow. Longer review to come.

Let me say I felt so excited when I received an ARC of The Duet because I loved With This Heart and Scoring Wilder is in my top ten favorite books of this year. I Loved this! Super cute and sexy and refreshing! A pop princess and a brooding sexy solo artist... it was so funny at times and the sexual tension was boiling. I loved Brooklyn.. she was so hilarious and confident. No serious emotional baggage weighing her down... her and her sister did lose both parents several years earlier but it only made Brooklyn stronger. I do wish we would have got Jason's POV.. but besides that.. this was a page turner for me and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next for them. Loved it!!

That's exactly what I needed after reading some heavier novels. Something a little fun, a little hilarious and positively RS Grey's signature style. This was a great quick read to lighten my mood. Now to read The Design!

R.S. Grey has done it again!!
I've read so many books by R.S. Grey but they will never be enough!!
In 'The Duet' we meet Brooklyn Heart and Jason Monroe. While Brooklyn Heart conquered the world with her love songs, Jason won his fans over with his soulful music and mysterious, bad boy aura. So the Labels thought 'Why not put these two, complete opposites, together to sing a duet for the Grammy's'
"I'd risk it all, for you I would. You'd make me fall, and fall I would"
And boy did they write a song? Because how can they write a song together when they are complete opposites and Jason hates Brooklyn and wants nothing to do with her. Jason prefers to write alone in his ranch in Montana, but you can't disrespect the big bosses, now can you? So off to Montana they go.
"...I realized that I was in the middle of some bizarro Romeo and Juliet balcony scene where Romeo was standing on the balcony instead of Juliet.
“O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?”
And all he said in reply was: “Begone, wench!”
I loved Brooklyn!! Since the entire book was in her POV we could really understand her charecter. She was fun, sassy, and beautiful. She had an amazing sense of humour that had me laughing out loud at all times.
Jason was an asshole to Brook for no reason at all and I hated him for that but then he did redeem himself. He had the whole 'mysterious-bad-boy vibe' (that I totally dig) and I really started to like him towards the end when he opened up a bit.
"Would you like an ice cold bottle of fuck-off, or how about a get-the-fuck-out-martini?"
Their start was little rocky but they worked through their differences wrote the most beautiful song in the world.
"Loving you would be as easy as taking a breath
But to look at you,that's a dance with death
Before you,I could be alone
Now I can't stand the thought of you out there
Out there on your own"
I loved the witty banter and the enemies to lovers trope with a twist of drama in the book. Brooklyn and Jason were perfect together in the 'the ying to my yang' sort.
"Damn. Looks like my fruit basket didn't work. You're supposed to be dead," she said, glaring at him. "Guess you didn't try the grapefruit."
Cammie was the perfect sister/best friend and I really loved her. She supported Brooklyn throughout the book and was always by her side.
The only complain I have is that it would have been better for me to understand Jason's character if this book had been in double POV but other than that it was a 5 star read.
I loved this book a lot and was swept off my feet in the typical R.S. Grey fashion. I cannot wait for Cammie and Greyson's book. If you're looking for a light and fun read with a swoon-worthy ending you should totally pick this book up.

Now we're talking. You have no idea people how much I itch for this kind of read for a while now.. well, like a hormonal prego craving for chocolate ice cream with sprinkles on top that is. Light, funny and not overtly heavy with the drama. I lurve Jason. But Brooklyn is the icing on the cake, she is really hilarious but feisty. I love her. I am really a happy reader right now. Squeeee!

Okay, so this is one of those lazy days when I'm just going to lay my thoughts out here without any introduction about the characters or the story.
Everything seems to be fine - I was happy about the way the story's progressing, and the male lead (Jason) made me swoon even if he was one hell of a complex case, brooding, and alternating between hot and cold.
But then his "secret" came out (don't worry, as it's going to be fine in the end, though it just led to a major misunderstanding which I guess is needed for the sake of having a plot twist). Yet, I was a bit disappointed that he has not been completely honest with the female lead (Brooklyn) from the start. I mean, I get that he is complicated and that he couldn't handle a relationship at the moment because of that secret of his, but then he shouldn't be the first one who took a step towards Brooklyn and seduced her (he was a total tease), if he’s planning to not tell her about it. It wasn’t a small matter (in my opinion) that should be left out like what he did. Maybe I'm making it too much of a big deal, when to others it is not, but I just hate liars - so that's one star less for this book.

This was clearly a case of "it's not you, it's me". I found this super juvenile for the ages of the characters that it made the story almost unbelievable. The enemies-to-lovers trope was more insta-enemies for no reason and then insta-lovers. Literally from hate to love in the turn of the page. The chemistry never really simmered or burned hence me not feeling any at all. The secondary mysterious romance happening in the background I think was supposed to be a teaser for the next book but became cumbersome as so much of the teasing was misplaced. This was just too much of a mess for me quite frankly.
